FAQ's
Here's some of the top questions and answers I get asked!

Why do I need a doula?
Most people want a birth doula to have direct support in the hospital or in their homebirth before the midwife comes. This makes it less stressful knowing who will be in the room with you and who can help you advocate to respect your birth wishes. Birth is a doula's happy place and all of the birth events tend to excite us to help you transition into getting that baby on the outside.

What items do you bring to a birth?
During labor, I am typically very hands on with mom and guiding the father/support person in positions, double hip squeezes, and counter pressure. The physical items I tend to bring are: my birth swing, TENS machine, birth comb, essential oils, tennis ball, music, twinkle lights and copy of your birth plan of course! My comfort and knowledge is the most helpful thing I can have so that we can all support you in your birth goals.

What's the difference between a doula and a midwife?
While midwives are medically trained health care providers who manage the medical aspects of birth and delivery. Doulas are NOT medical providers and focus on emotional, mental and physical support. We complement care provided by midwives/obstetricians.

If I'm having a C-Section do I still need a doula?
Absolutely! Doulas can play an active role in c-sections by supporting you before and educating you on what you can expect request and advocate for your birth preferences. While some hospitals do not allow doulas in the OR we try our best to be there for every step of the way and wait for you in the recovery room. If planned in advance, some doctors will allow doulas to be with their patients.

Do you accept insurance?
Yes! I am currently accepting Kaiser Southern CA, Molina, Health Net, Cal Optima, TriWest,
3 Medi-Cal Only Options: CalViva Health & Anthem & Medicaid California Medi-Cal (Medi-Cal Only).
My billing company covers many of insurance plans so please reach out to me for verification.
